If you know anything about MAGA, including who they are and what they’re doing — and you should! — then you know about Laura Loomer. On the one hand, she’s almost certainly insane, or at least bipolar. She engages in the worst kind of conspiracy theories, including that 9/11 was an inside job. She’s an utterly horrible and despicable human being.
She’s also been in and out of Trump’s circle. He took her to the 9/11 memorial last year, and she consulted with Trump on who should be fired from the National Security Council in April 2025. Sometimes she goes after Marjory Taylor Green on X, one of Trump’s bulldogs in Congress, so maybe that’s when she’s on the outside looking in. Who knows.
Yesterday, she posted the following:
First, she’s literally advocating to feed 65 million people to alligators, obviously referencing the Alligator Alcatraz concentration camp that was just erected in Florida at almost unbelievable speed (unbelievable if you evade the fact that it must have been in planning for many months). So, that’s her essential message: 65 million people should be killed. By alligators. For real.
Second, she was subsequently called out on the number. Why 65 million? Well, that’s almost precisely the number of Latinos in the United States (actually, it’s 65.2 million), both citizens and immigrants. That’s the only number that makes factual sense.
But notice her response to that allegation:
She argues that she was actually talking about “illegal aliens,” and she goes through a ridiculous, racist, and, of course, factually untrue calculation to justify that assertion:
But what’s so bizarre and far more disturbing is that she’s only debating who she’s saying should be killed. In other words, it’s perfectly okay, as long as she’s only talking about killing “illegal aliens.”
She doubles down on why that’s okay:
Because, as Trump has done for a long time, she wants to conflate “illegal alien” with “criminal” with “illegal alien child rapist” as if each of these are the same things. And of course, alligators should eat them all. I’ll point out that even convicted criminals are protected by the 8th Amendment’s prohibition of cruel and usual punishment, even though doing so feels like giving her position far too much credibility.
Really, it’s simply the precise mindset that resulted in the Holocaust. And before you accuse me of hyperbole, remember that the Holocaust was a progression. It started with demonization, and then putting people in ghettos, and then rounding people up, stuffing them into cattle cars, and placing them in concentration camps. Maybe the Nazis had their own "the alligators will eat them" moment. The furnaces came later.
Now, remember, Loomer' isn’t just some random nut job. She is a woman who has the ear of the President of the United States. And he’s already a guy who says this about Alligator Alcatraz, which he calls a “prison”:
Here’s another Trump MAGA stooge, Benny Johnson, extolling the virtues of the “prison,” as he calls it as well, where “You go in, you don’t come out.” Remember that it’s supposed to be a temporary deportation detention center.
I think the Laura Loomers and Benny Johnsons are simply the honest ones. They reflect the intentions of MAGA, for whom Trump is their cult leader and demagogue figurehead (or is that “fatherhead”?). But whether or not Trump himself agrees with them, this is the underbelly of the beast. It’s where we’re headed. Because remember, the Holocaust was a progression.
Very true, especially the last paragraph.
